So on my winding path to become more active on the internet, I've decided to park my sketchbook's base of operations in Instagram. That means that as consistently as I can, I plan to post a little something everyday around noon.
So far, I've been keeping this up for 15 days straight. I will continue to post random sketches, works in progress, finished pieces, and whatever else I can think of.
But why Instagram, you ask? Well, it's very pretty, and it's easy to use while on the go. I can't always be at my computer to post things, silly. Since I always sketch on the bus while commuting to work at the Philadelphia Sketch Club, and because I can carve out time in the morning to sketch before my freelance work, I think I can make this pretty consistent.
I'd like to say that I'm going to do this for a full year (YES, 365 SKETCHES IN A FREAKING ROW) like some amazing artists have managed to do. But I'm not certain that I want to put a number on this. My goal is just to post as often as I can, as a way to challenge myself.
I hope that you will share this journey with me. It's encouraging when I know that people look forward to seeing these sketches everyday.
And just in case you have no plans to jump into Instagram (AKA, you hate its guts), I will also be pushing these daily sketches to other social media platforms. In addition to Instagram, the sketches will be appearing on my Facebook Page, Twitter, and Tumblr. So if you prefer, feel free to follow this challenge on one of those platforms instead.
As a bonus, my Instagram feed is also included on my website's Art Archive page. I hope you'll take a look at this new page when you get the chance, too!
Ideally, I'd like to get a feed going on DeviantArt just to prove to you that I'm still alive over here, but hey, even dA has its limits. The only way I see that working is if I purchase a Core Membership and then add the Twitter widget to my profile -- but that's questionable, because the other platforms integrate seamlessly at no cost.
Let me know if you want to follow these sketches but really want to see them on DeviantArt instead of going to another site. Then I may see the benefit of the Twitter feed (or a custom box with an Instagram feed, if possible). Otherwise, I'll have no choice but to share the best ones on dA when I find the time to go through that process.
As always, thank you for sticking around to read! You can check out my instagram at:
